Wild Hues & Warm Brews is an event that I am developing that is a creative and immersive art and tea event. I was working on a two-day workshop but this is probably too long for most people so I'm developing a 1 day, 6-hour workshop instead.

Come and join me, Mel Jones, Artist, Writer, and Certified Tea Master, as I guide you on an immersive creative weekend at Junction 142, Katoomba. Enjoy a unique experience of art and tea exploration! Begin, or re-connect with your creativity as you explore expressive drawing and painting techniques and discover new ways to express yourself creatively while sipping on delicious organic and hand-crafted teas from around the world.

This two-day, in-person workshop, is perfect for beginning creatives to practicing artists of any medium, looking to explore and express themselves in new ways. No prior drawing or painting experience needed. Just bring your enthusiasm and I'll provide the rest!

About ME!

Hi! I'm Mel Jones, I'm a long-time resident of the Blue Mountains. I am an exhibiting artist and was awarded the Artist in Residence to Mt Tomah Botanic Garden. I have held over 10 solo exhibitions across the last 25 years, including at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney, and I've been in many group exhibitions. For the last 14 or so years my work has evolved to focus on using the pochoir stencil technique, which I will share with you during this weekend.

I am also a writer and a Certified Tea Master, completing my Tea Master Certification in 2015. I am also a qualified educator, I have a WWCC, and current first aid certificates.

Explore Your Creativity

Experiment with expressive drawing and painting methods, while we dive into the fascinating world of tea. Tasting some traditional and unique teas from around the world and recording your tea journey using my unique tea diary (all inclusive).

Craft Your Masterpiece

Bring your creativity into focus by participating in a group pochoir, then create your own pochoir or collage artwork to take home. I will guide you through a beginners journey into the art of tea blending. Creating your unique artwork while sipping on your very own custom tea blend!

This in-person event is perfect for anyone seeking a creative escape, from complete beginners to practicing artists of all mediums. No prior experience necessary.  Just bring your enthusiasm and we'll provide the rest! Sip on delicious organic and hand-blended teas from around the world while you explore several immersive drawing and painting techniques inspiring you to unleash your creativity.

Spots are limited! Register now to secure your place and embark on a journey of artistic exploration and relaxation. This weekend of creativity and tea is perfect for anyone seeking a creative escape from, participants need to be over the age of 16.

Our day starts at 10am, we will have a morning tea break, a lunch break and an afternoon tea break if needed. Each day finishes at 4pm.

IMPORTANT

  • All art materials are supplied.
  • All teas, and tea blending ingredients are supplied.
  • Every participant will receive a copy of my tea-tasting diary, which includes a flavour chart.
  • A complementary morning tea is provided each day for you. Please let me know your dietary requirements when you book.
  • We will need a minimum of 4 participants for the course to go ahead, if we don't meet that number, you will be re-funded.

YOU WILL NEED TO BRING

  • A picture or two of something you would like to paint, or which inspires you.
  • Comfortable warm clothing, we will have the heaters on, but it is winter.
  • An apron or towel to wipe your hands on.
  • Gloves if you don't want to get your hands messy.
  • Your headphones if you want to listen to your own music during the creating periods.
  • Your favourite paint brushes if you would like to use them, paint brushes and other art supplies will be provided.
  • Your own lunch and afternoon tea, we are in town, and you are welcome to duck out to get food locally if you would like.
  • You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you more comfortable, I will have participants tables spaced out, and the hall at J142 is quite large.
  • For participants between 16 years and 18 years, your parent or guardian will need to supply you with a letter of permission to attend, I have a WWCC which I am happy to supply if required.

We are using many various art materials, and consuming various tea ingredients, if you have an allergy to anything we are using you are responsible for letting me know and avoiding those products or ingredients when we are using them. I will do my best to provide alternatives for you to use.
